H&A Cutting Works was established in October 1999. Erwin Hellemans, a 4th generation diamond polisher came to Thailand with his wife to start up the business. Operations began in a 300sqm rented space in the Gemopolis Industrial Estate.

In April 2000, the company received its Board of Investment (BOI) approval outlining its privileges. Within one year, the company employed 111 staff and already 60% of the total output was Triple Excellent Ideal Cut Hearts & Arrows diamonds.

By late 2001, the current facilities were becoming too small for the growing number of employees. In the second half of 2002, a 3200sqm site was purchased in the Gemopolis Industrial Estate. Construction began in April of 2003 and was completed by December 2003.

In January 2004, the entire workforce, totaling 262 employees relocated to the new facility. At this time, 90% of the total production was Triple Excellent Ideal Cut diamonds with the Hearts & Arrows pattern.

By the end of 2004, H&A employed 425 employees and over 95% of total output was Triple Excellent Ideal Cut diamonds with over 98% of all stones exported from the factory having the Hearts & Arrows pattern.

June 2005 the Exelco Group, of which H&A is a member company, gained Sightholder status, thus securing a continuous and homogenous rough supply for H&A.

This focussed production of Triple Excellent Ideal Cut Hearts & Arrows is unique in the diamond industry.
